Sherri Shergill

Executive Director

Sherri Shergill is the dedicated Executive Director of PCHS Calgary, spearheading the mission to provide culturally affirming mental health and supportive services to the local South Asian community. With a profound sense of privilege and belonging within her own community, Sherri is committed to supporting individuals in realizing their truest potential through the delivery of high-quality mental health and addiction services.

With extensive experience as a mental health therapist, Sherri has worked tirelessly both locally and internationally to develop and implement programs that cater to marginalized and vulnerable populations. Her compassionate approach and deep understanding of the impact of culture and upbringing empower her to deliver meaningful care to those in need.

Guided by a strengths-based leadership approach, Sherri recognizes the immense value in our community's resilience, generosity, and compassion. She believes in the transformative power of self-reflection, encouraging individuals to explore how their community, beliefs, and upbringing have shaped them, both positively and inaccurately. Leading an exceptional team of professionals at PCHS Calgary, Sherri takes immense pride in their collective efforts to serve the community.

Under Sherri's capable guidance, PCHS Calgary is poised to make a lasting impact, fostering a sense of well-being and empowerment among individuals within the South Asian community. Nico Scholten

Clinical Supervisor

Nico came to Canada from the Netherlands in 1967. He had a brief career as a teacher before going on to a career in Mental Health and Addiction Treatment. Nico was the Executive Director of a Children’s Mental Health Centre in Sarnia, Ontario and the founding CEO of Whitespruce Youth Treatment Centre in Yorkton, Saskatchewan; the first residential treatment centre for chemically dependent adolescents and their families in Canada.

Prior to retiring from Alberta Health Services, Nico was a Senior Clinical Specialist in Rehabilitation and Concurrent Disorders with Addiction and Mental Health Services. Presently, Nico works as a Psychologist and Counsellor. He has a small private practice where he provides supervision and consultation to Provisional Psychologists.

 

Harmanjot Kaur Batth

Clinical Program Manager; Registered Psychologist

Harman is the Clinical Program Manager at PCHS Calgary leading the team of Mental Health Therapists providing individual, family, and group therapy to clients. She completed her Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary before obtaining a Master’s in Psychology from Yorkville University. Since joining PCHS in 2017, Harman has had the opportunity to work in various different roles within the organization while fostering a strength based approach. As a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, Harman is able to effectively utilize her skills and knowledge to best fit the needs of the clients. “I appreciate that PCHS is providing me with an opportunity to give back to the South Asian community as this is personally of great value. I moved to Canada at a young age where I had the opportunity to experience the intersections of different cultures and the challenges that sometimes come with that.  As a part of my self-care, I love to travel, spend time with my family, and keep myself informed of global issues and happenings.”

 

Bhavleen Kaur

Mental Health Therapist

Bhavleen Kaur is a registered Social Worker and Mental Health Therapist at PCHS. She holds a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of Calgary, a Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Victoria, and a diploma in Social Work, which she pursued after coming to Canada as an International Student in 2015.

With nearly a decade of experience in frontline social services, Bhavleen brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate personal challenges. She specializes in Narrative Therapy, an approach that empowers clients to reshape the stories they tell about themselves, allowing them to reframe difficulties, reclaim their strengths, and find meaning in their experiences. Bhavleen’s work is particularly focused on supporting ethnic minorities, where her cultural background and lived experiences allow her to offer a compassionate, culturally-sensitive approach to therapy.

Bhavleen is especially excited about her role at PCHS, as it represents the first opportunity in her career to give back to her own community. Having worked in various social service settings, she understands the unique challenges faced by immigrants and ethnic minorities and is passionate about providing a safe, supportive space for individuals from diverse backgrounds to heal and grow.

Outside of her professional life, Bhavleen enjoys traveling, hiking, and camping—activities that allow her to reconnect with nature and maintain balance in her own life.

With a unique combination of clinical expertise, cultural sensitivity, and a deep commitment to her community, Bhavleen is dedicated to supporting her clients on their journey toward healing, self-discovery, and empowerment.

 

Tania Bhullar

Manager of Program Development & Analytics

“I believe how someone feels in your presence, forms the core of therapeutic connection.” Tania completed her bachelor’s degree in science from Bangalore University in India and her Masters in Psychology from the University of Calgary. Having lived and worked a portion of her life throughout regions of India and in Canada, she possesses a unique perspective of the varying cultural nuances. Tania’s experiences have globalized and expanded her ability to work with individuals and families from the South Asian community. “I function as a conduit between understanding the duality, in differences and similarities, between both countries. I am passionate about meeting people in their journey and supporting them along a healthier path. My indulgences in life include travel and exploration, nestling with a good book and spending quality time with loved ones.”

 

Sajjad Mahmood

Mental Health Therapist, Lead Addiction and Group Programs, Registered Provisional Psychologist

“I believe, my therapeutic strength is transformation as my clients come with tears and depart with a smile.” This simple yet profound philosophy drives Sajjad’s dedication to making a meaningful impact on each client's journey toward healing and growth.

Sajjad holds a Bachelor’s and Master of Science Degree in Psychology from Pakistan, which he upgraded at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. Sajjad, who affectionately considers himself the "Surgeon of Thoughts," explores into the mind’s hidden layers, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychoeducation, Family Therapy, Cultural & Spiritual Competency and the Circle of Care approach and Soft Humor as his surgical tools. He is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate complex challenges, including addiction, relationship struggles, anger management, and emotional difficulties.

Beyond therapy, Sajjad is deeply inspired by Music and Rhythm and enjoys playing the Harmonium and Keyboard. An active voice in the community, Sajjad is also a Radio Jockey (RJ) on a local FM Radio . Sajjad enjoys reading, poetry, spontaneous humor and music.

 

Harmeet Sandhu

Mental Health Therapist- Registered Provisional Psychologist

I have completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counselling from the University of Calgary. I have experience working with children, youth, and adults in a variety of areas of mental health. Through my work as a counsellor for PCHS, I have provided counselling for individuals, groups, couples, and families. I prefer to adapt and modify my therapeutic approach to suit the needs of my clients. I believe that through therapeutic support, individuals and families can overcome challenges and develop a healthy, positive life.

 

Arunie Saldhi

Counsellor - Provisional Psychologist

Arunie completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Waterloo and her Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. “As my previous career was in finance and technology - I understand the stress that comes with managing your work and ambition and simultaneously taking care of your family and yourself. I focus on individual and couples counselling, primarily using CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy. I strive to always create a collaborative and supportive environment for my clients, focusing on goal-setting and building confidence.” Although Arunie was born in India, she spent the majority of her life and upbringing in Canada. “I understand the complexity of living an authentic life in the midst of two cultures. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, spending time with my dogs, and reading fiction.”

 

Dildar Johal

Community Connections Facilitator

Dildar was born and raised in Calgary and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Psychology from the University of Calgary. Growing up within a diverse community and an immigrant household, he was constantly exposed to different people and new ideas, helping him develop his communication and perspective-taking skills. Since joining PCHS in early 2024, Dildar has developed and facilitated the Sahara Meditation Group, Sahara Men's Wellness Group, and played a key part in pioneering his own role as the Community Connections facilitator. He has been a strong advocate for clients and uses his skills to help them navigate various resources in English, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.

Outside of PCHS Calgary, Dildar volunteers as a Punjabi teacher and runs a digital magazine with his peers, promoting youth and diversity. Between his various responsibilities, he always makes time to go on hikes, take care of his plants, and spend time with his family and friends.

Sarbjit Sodhi

Intake/Peer Support Coordinator

Sarbjit was born and raised in Chandigarh, India and her background was originally in computer engineering. As an immigrant moving to Canada, and through her cultural and emotional connection with the South Asian community in Calgary, her passion and desire to work in non-profit bloomed.  “PCHS shares my passionate belief in the possibility of sustainable social change and personal health & wellbeing. In my role, I welcome those who are struggling to voice their needs, and assist them with accessing the counselling services needed to support them.” Through the Peer Support Program, Sarbjit encourages and engages clients to further grow in supporting others and assisting each clients journey to recovery.  “I nostalgically enjoy staying relevant with online and IT developments, reading good books, and camping to disconnect.” 

 

Amber Qureshi

Community Engagement Coordinator

Amber's journey began when she moved from Pakistan to Canada in 2007, she completed a Bachelor’s in Education and a Master’s in Arts from Pakistan. After establishing her life in Canada, she further enriched her credentials by earning diplomas in Social Work and Addiction & Community Services, as well as an Immigration Consultant Diploma. With over 15 years of diverse experience in social services, Amber has made a significant impact at various organizational levels, from grassroots initiatives to established agencies. Her role on the boards of ethnic community organizations illustrates her deep commitment to addressing the social and emotional challenges faced by South Asian communities.

As an instructor of addiction and community support worker courses at a community college, Amber continually enhances her expertise and ability to advocate for vulnerable populations. Her dedication to partnership and collaboration has been recognized with the prestigious United Way Bhayana Family Award. Moreover, Amber’s qualifications include a Registered Professional Recruiter license, a Talent Management Practitioner designation, and a Change Management Practitioner designation, showcasing her relentless pursuit of knowledge and innovation. Her personal experience as an immigrant fuels her passion for supporting the South Asian community and its advancement. Helping individuals and families to thrive is not just her profession; it’s her calling. In her spare time, Amber enjoys painting, cooking, discovering new places, exploring fashion trends, and cherishing moments with her loved ones. Through her multifaceted interests and professional endeavours, Amber embodies the spirit of community and empowerment.

 

Savi Bhatia

Communications and Donor Relations Coordinator

Savi has a love for community and people which shines brightly in her role here at PCHS. She loves building connections and giving back to those in need. Savi was born and raised in Canada, and received her BA from the University of Calgary. Savi just joined us at PCHS in 2024 but she comes from a diverse career background from Oil and Gas, PR, Sales and the Nonprofit sector. She was fortunate to backpack around the world, travelling extensively to over 50 countries. She tributes her world view, and mixed upbringing to her unique perspective into her passion for creating a brighter tomorrow for all. “I am thrilled to have this new opportunity to give back to my community in such an incredible way. My goals are help PCHS expand in order to uplift and empower our community in meaningful ways!”

In her downtime Savi enjoys trying new restaurants, thrift-shopping, planning her next vacation and spending time with her puppy.

 

Hina Bhagchandani

Office Manager

Hina is a dedicated Office Manager in the mental health services sector, with a background in Literature and a strong commitment to the well-being of the South Asian community in Calgary. Originally from Delhi, India, Hina’s immigrant experience in Canada has shaped her passion for non-profit work, driving her to develop impactful support systems tailored to this community's unique needs. With expertise in coordinating operations and fostering inclusive environments, she also bring valuable experience in German language, Finance, and Insurance, further enhancing her ability to serve and support the individuals and families she works with.

 

Harpreet Hans

Group Facilitator

Harpreet am the facilitator for Women Growth Circle Group and Sahara Wellness Group. She has a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degree from India. Harpreet also completed her LPN program in B.C. “I have worked as an educator and Health care program coordinator for past 10 years. I am passionate about helping people and feel blessed to support our South Asian community. I enjoy hiking, spending time with my family and friends and travelling.”
